Instructions

Gaming is not a problem in itself β€” for most people it is rest, a hobby, or a way of staying in touch with friends. The World Health Organization does describe three areas, though, where gaming can start working against a person: when it is hard to control, when it displaces other important things, and when it continues despite harm. This questionnaire asks about exactly those three.

Answer nine questions, thinking about the past 12 months. You can take the result to a conversation with a psychologist.

It is not a validated psychometric questionnaire, and the boundaries between score levels are not clinical thresholds. Gaming disorder (ICD-11 6C51) is diagnosed only by a clinician; it requires significant impairment in functioning and a pattern normally evident over at least 12 months. A high score here does not mean the diagnosis applies. If gaming has started to cost you sleep, study, work or relationships, talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist.
